The best fashion picks for cosy winter ‘fits
Writer: Anna Dugdale
The coldest months of the year are here, so out with the shorts and crop tops and in with the comfy sweatshirts and leggings. Finding cheap and good quality clothes is never an easy feat, but here are some of our recommendations to keep yourself stylish and warm in the winter months ahead!
Patterned jumpers are the perfect staple for your winter wardrobe, they can add a bit of colour and texture to your outfit. Knit ones are even better – they’re warm, thick and cosy, and you can still add layers to the outfit, with a top underneath and a coat or jacket over the top.
This one from Topshop is lovely, and khaki is such a trendy colour at the moment. While it is a little pricey, it is also a great investment and could be the perfect thing to ask for for Christmas.
As well as this one from Bershka, with the lilac colour still allowing you to hold onto the last shreds of summer while keeping yourself warm!
Despite not being able to spend the beginning of the festive season going out for food and drinks, we can still hold out hope that we’ll be able to get dressed up and go out!
These leather flare trousers from Bershka are a twist on the class winter staple, with the flare adding a twist to a classic. At only £17.99, they’re a bargain and so easy to dress up or dress down.
Sweatshirts are so on trend right now, especially vintage and over-sized ones. As vintage ones can be hard to come across and can tend to be more expensive, a lot of shops are coming out with their own interpretations on the classics.
Pull and Bear have some great ones, with this blue sweatshirt with the bear print seems super cosy and would look lovely worn with a collared shirt underneath.
Another favourite of mine from Pull and Bear is this mismatched sweatshirt. The contrast slogan adds texture to the sweatshirt and the faded black is such an autumnal colour.
A more basic alternative is Gildan sweatshirts from Amazon. They come in loads of different colours and sizes and are such a basic winter staple, as well as perfect for layering.
Leggings are a great basic to have in your wardrobe – my personal favourites are TALA’s Zinnia leggings. TALA’s sustainability aspect is such an amazing selling point for me and they fit really well and are so comfortably. However, they are a bit pricey, at £40, so a great cheaper alternative is Flexxfit’s classic leggings, which come in a variety of colours and are super comfy.
Flexxfit often have sales running and also run frequent competitions over on their Instagram, with free leggings as the prize so they’re very student budget friendly!
If you’re stuck for inspiration, there’s plenty of Instagrammers you can follow to keep up with the recent trends. I love getting inspo for fashionable outfits from Instagram – here are some of my favourite feeds:
